Go into the game for any backrow player (except the current serve) while the ball is dead (in between points). This is not counted as a substitution.
They may pass set from any location (hand setting is restricted- see below)
The Libero May Not:
Serve (except in college)
Attack the ball from above the net - ever!)
Block
Rotate to the front row ( the player that came off the court for the libero must return to the game).
Set to an attack with the hands from the front court zone (or in front of the 10' line)
The Libero Must:
Wear a contrasting uniform from the rest of the team (so they are easy to identify)
If allowed to serve (like in college), the libero can only serve in one spot in the rotation.
Rally Scoring:
The scoring system now used in volleyball. Whoever wins the rally, wins the point and the serve. (Done to speed up the game and make it more exciting).
Match:
CT High School Vasity Teams play the best out of 5 games. (JV plays the best of 3)
The first four games are scored to 25 points.
The fifth and deciding game is scored to 15 points. In all games you must win by 2 points.
Attack Line:
A line 3 meters from the net that separates the front row players from the back row players. Common referred to as the 10-foot line. Back row players are not allowed to jump in front of this line.
Back Row Attack:
When a back row player attacks the ball by jumping form behind the 3m line before hitting the ball. If the back row player steps on or past the 3m line during take-off, the attack is illegal.
Serve:
One of six basic skills; used to put the ball into play. It is the only skill controlled exclusively by one player.
The server may serve from anywhere behind the baseline.
Antenna: (pins)
The vertical rods (red and white) mounted directly above the sidelines.
The ball must pass through them and is not allowed to contact them for the ball to be considered in play.
